A new building permit request was filed yesterday for the Fairmont. This one relates to the elevated walkway connection to the convention center. I would have thought this would have been taken care of already, but it still indicates that this project is inching forward:

But of course my friend. I want all our buildings to have strobe and lazer lights. Then the city could close Congress on Saturday nights and have big DJs perform while people dance in the street. Lol

Interesting design. I would think the building can be built then the elevated walkway later. There were some concerns about having one but I'm not sure if they have worked it all out. Judging by that image, seems like the design may be in response to the city's concern. I'd really like to see an actual rendering of it.

Yes, let's put South Beach and Ibiza out of business while making the old Berlin Love Parade look like a small town Veteran's Day pancake breakfast!

I just went by the Fairmont site and.............crickets. But as someone posted recently, on the frontage road/East Ave. past where you get on I-35 before the river, there is a fenced of area that looks like it it being used as a construction staging area. The Kimber Modern hotel and the Hilton suites hotel look like sure things, and they are going up in that general area. Maybe one of those will be starting soon.

Just spoke to a developer for first and trinity and we got talking about skyscrapers. He mentioned a contractor friend just got hired for this project so he expects Fairmont groundbreaking very soon.

The developers just filed for the underground parking excavation permit less than two weeks ago, so who knows what's really going on.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's another backlog-- I mean between the projects that've had several permit applications submitted and are starting to move forward and the projects that have been recently announced and just had initial permit filing taking place I'm sure there's a fairly heavy backlog, however I'm not sure of the extent.

Plus it is the public sector so I'm sure something's up, because something's always up.
