Tower Verre, we are not worthy of your presence (even as we are being spoiled with two taller masterpieces by SHoP on the way). But the canyons will rejoice when you stand revealed....

I only wish they had chosen to put up a better rendering on site (it doesn't even have to be as large as the one on 111 W. 57th, though that would be nice too).

Now that will be one great cultural and aesthetic angle to view Verre . .
from street level . . . . (NYguy's 1st shot above) . .
with one of Jim Dine's Venus sculpture-fountains . . on the West side of 6th Ave. . .
eye traveling up the striking vertical granite ridges of Saarinen's CBS "Black Rock" . .
to the sharp tripartite crown of Nouvel's Tower Verre slicing into the sky . .
It'll be worth the wait.

Careful. The skyscraper gods won't look kindly on such blasphemy.

Meanwhile, work must proceed on this tower at all costs, day or night, hot or cold.

I know it's a small site, but this is moving along pretty fast.

Photos Show Foundation Work Progressing at 53W53

Quote:
Since renderings were revealed nearly ten years ago, architecture fanatics have been eagerly awaiting construction of 53W53, a 77-storey supertall tower located at 53 West 53rd Street in New York City. The luxury development by Hines entered sales last year, and construction on the site has finally been spotted by passersby.
