Gower Condos

These condos are well under way. Ranging from $200,000 to $260,000, they are supposed to be more affordable. Most of them have already been sold.
I would have liked to have seen a higher concept but being in a close residential area that may have been not a good idea.

Stratford Drug Stores

Murphys and Shoppers Drug Mart are progressing. I think that the
Murphys may be open first.

Closely watching your election today. Should be exciting! I just noticed that a Forum poll that went out yesterday has the PC's +1 on the Greens (ie. they're tied). Can't wait to see how this turns out.

With the sad death of the Green candidate in Charlottetown-Hillsborough Park, and a byelection not being held for three months, PEI could end up in the same circumstance as NB where nobody was really sure who the next Premier would be for about a month.

Exciting times.........

Should be talking about this in the Atlantic Canada Politics thread.

A page or two back someone mentioned the KFC in East Royalty was having a Taco Bell added to the space. The renovations now look complete, and it’s still a KFC. Has anyone heard of Taco Bell coming here?

While more food choices are always good, I find Taco Bell to be the most disgusting fast food place around

I feel like comparing Taco Bell to Taco Boyz is kinda like comparing McDonald's to Relish.

Killam large investment in Charlottetown

Looks like there will be some major development in the works around the Charlottetown Mall in coming years.

"Killam is pleased to announce that it has agreed to purchase a 50% interest in the Charlottetown Mall, located in Charlottetown, PE, from RioCan REIT at a purchase price of $23.7 million for an all cash yield of 6.69%. This stabilized, grocery-anchored, enclosed mall is a 352,448 square foot retail complex and is the dominant shopping centre in Prince Edward Island. It is located on 32 acres in the heart of Prince Edward Island’s busiest retail node with future multi-family development opportunities of up to 300 units. The retail portion of the property will continue to be managed by RioCan after closing, with the future residential project being managed by Killam. This purchase will establish Killam’s second joint venture with RioCan REIT and the acquisition is expected to close on May 17, 2019."

Very interesting! About 10-15 years ago the owner of the mall had a plan to demolish the old liquor store (now a dollar store) and was planning to rebuild with multiple levels of apartments over new retail space. There are current apartments up there, but they haven’t been rented out for years. I’d imagine this is Killams plan. With current zoning, they can build up 5 stories without variance.

I find this proposal for 4 Prince Street quite intriguing:

Ideal location immediately adjacent to the cruise ship terminal and overlooking the harbour.

I'm very impressed at the development activity ongoing in the old home place at present.
