Cool AUSTIN | Skyloft | 190 FEET | 18 FLOORS | COMPLETE

It's hard keeping track of these West Campus projects. But I think this is a new one. It's 18-stories, and the site is currently a surface parking lot at 2211 Nueces. Construction starts July 1st.

I searched for projects on Nueces Street. I came up with this one from 2014. It has the same address. They're calling it "2211 ATX" on the permit. It was approved. The elevations are files 22 and 23.

https://www.austintexas.gov/devrevie...erRSN=11190450

There's a 1.8 foot drop off below the 0 feet line. If you measure from that point, the main roof comes to 176.47 feet. The elevations didn't show the height for the mechanical penthouse, but I measured it as 185 feet above the main roof slab. This also shows it with 20 floors instead of 18. Maybe we'll get an updated site plan released this week that will show if they've changed it. They are working on a new site plan according to the link above.

There is also an Austin American-Statesman article about an effort to move the historic house that is on the site. The house is called the Dabney Horne House. There are several articles on it if you Google it.

The new version of the project is definitely different than the original site plan. Originally there were 6 1/2 above ground parking levels, and now there are five underground parking levels. They added about four more apartment levels as well.

And an awesome contribution it is. I was actually looking for a webcam this morning for the Aloft since White Lodging had one for the JW. (You might want to post this in the Aloft thread.)

I posted this in the update thread, but I think this is a new site plan for the latest version - Rev. 3 I believe - of this project proposed for the 500 block of W. 23rd ST. It's now being called "23 Nueces" and is still 18-stories, but with only three underground levels.

But so far Tovo is not having it...

An older rendering I believe. So ultimately, they can move forward if the house stays put, right? Does the tower take over the site of the house in the new site plan?

Edit: Me thinks the developer needs more space for the extended portion facing W 23rd, it will butt up right against the house if it stays.

Funny. I'd forgotten about this one. It looks like a copy of 21Rio.

Guess this one is going to happen.

This is good news. The floor count in the title should be changed to 18.

This has increased in height to 22-stories.

It looks massive.

Reminds me of a hospital.

With this being huge, and how the setbacks are set up, it looks like it was originally planned to be taller. Also looks like something out of Miami.

They're cheating on the number of stories --- counting the 4 underground floors. Only 18 above, still a fairly impressive beast for West Campus. Personally love the setbacks, makes a world of difference, especially for the residents who have all those separate outdoor party spaces.

Don't know if you intended it as positive, negative, or a neutral observation, but I concur. I kinda dig Miami, at least from a distance.

I count 19 up that greenish elevator shaft or whatever. And the wing on the back left could be a bit taller.

That's exactly what I thought at first glance. A psychiatric hospital due to the small windows.
I do like the silver grey. Should look cool lit up at night. I keep looking at it and feel somthing is missing on the design but I can't put my finger on it.
What I like about it is, its massive, and yeah, not just a box. I'm going to cut this one some slack even though I'm not that crazy about it. I know the goal is to cram as many student as possible within its walls, but at least there is a little flair.
