Alberta to get a new premier

Any predictions on how the next little while will go?

I can't even think of any likely PC candidates.

After 40 years, is it all over for the PC's?

The true indicator of how much trouble the PC's face will be the quality of leadership candidates. If candidates from outside the sitting government stay away, the party is doomed.

Possible candidates :
Gary Mar
Rick Orman
Jim Prentice
Gwyn Morgan
Jim Dinning
Doug Horner
Doug Griffiths
Thomas Lukasiak

This will be Wild Rose's election to lose, even more so than in 2012.

I hope he doesn't run for a provincial seat and he never changes. A very classy person.

Anyone have thoughts on the Alberta Party? they sound promising, though a very long shot at best.

Sadly the tea party wannabe Wild Rose with their racist, homophobic and super religious candidates will form our next government all because they promise to be fiscally conservative (despite the massive funding shortfalls in pretty much every department we already have).

Be going after a PC card for this go round.

WR- I will fight any chance I can get.

AP are very quite. and realy NDP and Libs are pretty much non existant. If they both had people to get behind I would be more inclined to help.

Redford is rumoured to be suing for wrongful dismissal. This could get interesting.

Ric McIver is running for the leadership of the PC party. I think he would be a nice change from the big spending ways of Redford.

Is he more fiscally conservative?

I'm not so sure that would be a good thing, for a province dealing with an unprecedented infrastructure backlog.

Just read the article, he sounds great.

There's a reason why he's called Dr. No

I dislike some of his policies, but I respect the man.

Given that McIver represents a section of SE Calgary and I think was quite a supporter of the SELRT, and given he was Transportation Minister and was responsible for handling some pretty significant projects for the Province (Ring Roads, Hwy 63 etc). it would be very interesting to hear his thoughts on how he would proceed (or not proceed) with those projects should he become Premier.
