Isn't colder weather with above-average precipitation a characteristic of La Niña in BC?

La Niña actually means it's colder so the potential for snow is greater, El Niño is warmer. Although I've heard stories of heavy snow in the 60s and so on, it seems to me that the climate is changing towards more extremes, which means more snow, and Vancouver-the-City is not paying enough attention.

We have more snow than normal in the city, yes, but the snowpack on the mountains is nothing out of ordinary, perhaps a little less than normal. Heavy rains starting this weekend will change the snow situation significantly. I wish it would start raining a day or two later for us to have a beautiful Christmas, but I guess not.

Ok I screwed that up. I meant El Niño. I heard warmer winter.

Looks like tomorrow is going to be another transit chaos day.

starting snowing around 10 pm in Langley, slightly later in surrey and when I crossed over the Port Mann back to Coquitlam it was snowing but much lighter than the Surrey side.

Will use transit tomorrow, unsure of the freezing rain situation, sounds like it will mainly affect the Fraser Valley but I don't want to get stuck in traffic so being stuck on a train will be better.

It looks like we're in for a few days of rain, but it was a five star day yesterday.

^ Thanks, Leftcoaster.

Well, it's been a pretty cool spring. Lots of rain lately. I like it though.

After a very unconventional winter, the weather this spring has felt extremely "Vancouver".

It does? This has been the coldest April in a while, and it was still cold this morning. Things better pick up in May.

I swear it was lovely when I posted that.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say this spring has been a drag.

It has been more than a drag. If you consider the series of storms that have been slamming into California since December, it is evident that the weather pattern is wildly off the rails.
One can only hope that there will be a "paradigm shift" and that we'll bounce back to a warmer, drier pattern before summer. The Farmer's Almanac predicts a dry summer for BC, and the sooner the better.

Nice. I just took a look at the Weather Network's forecast for the North Shore. Once we get through the rainy weekend, they're predicting "mix of sun and clouds" from Monday through Thursday, then sunny with a high of 20 next Friday and continuing in the high teens for the remainder of the 14-day forecast.

Nice photo set.

I see the Marine Building is bearing the scars of that electrical vault explosion , hope it's cleaned up soon, for the summer tourist season.
