I see the usual memorial crowd on hand.

Hotel Americano in Chelsea is similar, and one of the first to use it in NYC.

Ah O.K., thanks. That one is a little different in that there aren't 'missing' squares. It's strange isn't it?

I know I've seen a few multi-storey parking lots in other cities with that sort of design.

New York YIMBY:

Construction Update: 133 Greenwich Street
BY: NIKOLAI FEDAK ON MARCH 10TH 2014 AT 6:00 AM

Quote:
Excavation is underway at 133 Greenwich Street, which will soon become a 30-story Marriott Courtyard. The project’s architect is Danny Forster Design Studio, and the developer is Hidrock Realty LLC; the site is located adjacent to the World Trade Center.

New renderings of the tower’s planned design are also online, and the overall scheme echoes the nearby 150 Greenwich Street, in a miniaturized form. The building creatively uses its air rights, and in a cue that other architects should take, 133 Greenwich Street utilizes an extruded screen to conform to the street-wall along its lower levels, which ensures its envelope meets zoning requirements.

This minimizes the floor-plates of the podium levels, allowing the tower to shift its mass upwards. DOB diagrams indicate the building’s height will be 356 feet.
....

Completion of 133 Greenwich Street is expected in the fall of 2015.

Didnt realize that was the same guy.

Also very clever use of the screening as the article said. I like seeing buildings doing their best to maintain the street wall especially in Lower Manhattan. well done!

On Friday, I stopped by the construction area. Now that the 9/11 memorial park is open to the public (without having to go through the security check), it's become my go-to place to walk around during lunch time. I was surprised to see that 133 Greenwich is above street level now. With the foundation done, hopefully it will grow fairly quickly. Here's a few pics I took:

I'll post up more images as the construction progresses.

The first design with beige/tan color was better. There is too much blue glass in the area.
