Kingofthehill : I didn't have the 40D at that time, but anyway I'm not sure I would've brought it in the slums... My S2 IS was already drawing a lot of attention...
Urbanlife : They do! People that collect trash take it to Garbage City (see pic 57, the neighbourhood in the background) where locals sort it, reuse it and sell things that are salable... I didn't bother wandering in that place though...
I've been there in January and your photos show the city like it really is. Certainly not pretty, hands down the loudest and one of the dirtiest cities I've ever been to, but at the same time filled with an intense density of life, friendly people and something new to discover around every streetcorner.
wow! i needed this so much. this photo is awesome and count me in as one that did not know the ancient pyramids dead end streetscapes like that. the city is definitely beautiful in its own way. nice stuff.

Great photos! I have always wanted to see Cairo. You definitely captured some very diverse areas. The density in some of the shots is surreal and I agree about how incredible it is seeing the pyramid rising up in the background of some neighborhoods. Thanks!
A peek at another part of the world, from the vantage point of the masses.
