.

A lot of skill went into doing that exterior facade and how
you rounded it off at the corners....these buildings would
look good in that wharf you did in the last thread.

thanks! yeah, i like incorporating more than just work space into my designs. i believe it takes more than just a nice design to create a great building. while i'm not picky about symbols integrated with the design, i do think its important to have something which represents local culture.

well, i'm using vray now and to tell you the truth, i have no idea. i could not get glass that i wanted so when i finally got something decent looking i just left it the way it was.

yeah, i wanted the glass to be more reflective and less transparent. i didn't know how to do ass more reflections at the time but i'm getting closer to gettin vray down.

I love the design, I so wish we could get something like that built here in Boise. But alas, our citizens are far too conservative for that. Still, wonderful work!
yeah! you should be here posting more often! its slowwww as hell! and yeah, i doubt something like this would be built here in seattle anyways. i feel like the design is fine, but finding someone to finance such large pieces of artwork and amount of green technology for such a small building would be hard. when dac becomes a developer hopefully he'll invest in my designs

yeah, i'm trying to bring more "european" styled modern buildings to the united states. we're seriously falling behind imo and we're still clinging to that HIDEOUS beige which is in malls, residential buildings, offices, and everywhere around!

thanks! yup, dragon. i would love to see this project come to life

anyways, i'm working on a new project. I'll introduce it in a couple days, maybe tomorrow or sunday. i won't say much, only that it'll become one of the tallest buildings in the city and have a TALL lobby.

Hi Aleks, wow you're doing great job on 5th and Jackson particularly at street level. Would be nice to see some sensible colors added to bring some life to it all.

Cascade Center

My latest project is a little downer. I didn't add as many details as I wanted and the renderings didn't come out as good but it's been sitting in my files for a long time so I decided to just post it.

Anyways, I present to you the Cascade Center. Located on the corner of 6th and Seneca, it replaces the Renaissance Hotel which is outdated and en eyesore.

At 814 ft, it would become the tallest building in the city to the spire and the 5th tallest to roof at 693 ft. The building has a total of 50 stories including service and retail. On the 45th floor a public restaurant is located beneath a two-story atrium. The restaurant continues on the 46th floor where only Cascade Club members are allowed. A library and private theater are also located within the 46th floor. The 47-49 floors include private rooms which club members can stay in for various periods of time.

The base of the tower included a four-story, 58 ft tall atrium which houses the main lobby. There are shops on the 1st-3rd floor. Valet parking is underground. A 65 ft sculpture is located on the small plaza next to the main entrance.

More renders:

Wow Aleks, very good! I can't believe how much your rendering's improved.
Cascade Center looks so sleek, love it. Reminds me of some residential hirises we see down here.

Your street level detail and the sculptures are just awesome, give it a very sophisticated urban touch. Love your aragne rouge.

working on a new project... it's another skyscraper in seattle but it's kinda short. here's a very small preview of what's to come!

I love your buildings, everything is so perfect and well proportioned (although perhaps a little too clean). This reminds me that I need to start posting my creations here again. I'm starting a project that is very ambitious...

I like the height of the Cascade Center. What might a little curvature play with 2 Union and the freeway ramps would look like?

The Cascade Center looks really good. On its own as well as a part of the skyline. I really like the proportions as well as the facade.

Interesting to see how the new project will turn out.

Cascade centre is great, fits in so well. reminds me a little of Heron Tower here in London. I realise I may have been subconsciously inspired by your red arched sculptures as well.

haha, thanks. yeah i like clean lines. i'm very picky when it comes to proportions. originally i planned on just using the site of the hotel for the Cascade Center, but it was a few feet too short so i extended it over another building.

i'm trying to do something curvy in seattle, but the skyline is so well arranged that curves look weird. anyways, i'll keep trying and i'm sure i'll find something.

thanks! actually heron tower was the main inspiration. most peple think it's boring because it's boxy and gray, but i think it's a fantastic building.

sadly, i won't continue with the project above. I wanted to make something retro-looking since the pacific science center is a block away from the site. but i didn't like it in the end. maybe later.

Columbia Center is already over 900'.

-

In any case, I like it. Regarding your proposed 5th & Jackson, I think it would fit in pretty well and is not entirely unrealistic, especially when you consider the Library building.

-

I think this thread is cool, since Seattle is more or less my city (Tacoma, a few miles south actually is).

I really like that building. Too bad about your last bilding. It looked like it was going to turn out great. Can you show us a few pics to us at least?

Nice Job!
