You shouldn't post stuff like that because it is supposed to be secret and sacred knowledge for Idahoans only.

This hot springs is in a high tourist area which explains the need for this sign.

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

An old forest lookout cabin built in 1914 at the top of Brundage Mountain above McCall. Payette National Forest.

When I get the ambition I will post a McCall photo thread.

Students from Northwest Nazarene University fly a research drone over Bitner Vineyards in south Caldwell last June. They photographed the vineyard to compile valuable data for growers. Advanced Aviation Solutions will used fixed-wing models — these have rotors.

Until now, the only nonhobbyist drones flying over crops in the U.S. were part of sanctioned studies or were operated by growers ignoring a ban on drone use for commercial purposes.

The commercial drone industry - which experts estimate could be worth billions of dollars, serving a collage of other industries - has been on hold for years as the Federal Aviation Administration has struggled to develop rules for commercial drones' safe operation.

But one small Treasure Valley company - Advanced Aviation Solutions, or Adavso - received the FAA's blessing Monday for its drone services. Adavso became the 13th business in the country and the first agriculture-based company to receive

Idaho's wine industry brings $169.3 million of economic impact to the state, according to a recent study Stonebridge Research Group produced for the Idaho Wine Commission.

Idaho wineries produced 179,000 cases of wine in 2012, then surged ahead to 214,000 cases in 2013, the commission said. The wineries' 2013 revenues were $17.1 million in 2013, the study said.

Idaho Wine Commission Executive Director, Moya Dolsby, "The numbers don't lie and are backing up what we've been saying for years," Idaho Wine Commission Executive Director Moya Dolsby said in a news release. "It's evident how far our industry has progressed, and we're still growing and evolving.

"Idaho now has 51 wineries — almost five times the wineries it had in 2002. Those wineries employed about 1,200 people full time in 2013 and added part-time workers during busy seasons, paying wages of $39.7 million statewide in 2013, the commission said.

"At Pend d'Oreille Winery, we grew our employment by 50 percent last year in both production and sales," said Steve Meyer, owner of Pend d'Oreille Winery, in the news release

Good news. As the Snake River wine region in our metro area continues to gain prestige and continues winning awards, Boise will gain traction as a wine enthusiast tourist area. I know people who travel over 300 miles a few times a year to come here and stay in Boise and visit the wine region and tasting rooms in the city.

Seriously, Sawtooth, you should put a thread or some kind of collection together of your nature and landscape photos. Another example is your Jump Creek photos in your Boise Fall thread which are so beautiful.

Sun Valley set to get additional Olympic training designations

Governing body in process of finalizing 4 new categories for SVSEF

Quote:
Sun Valley, the “grand dame” of ski resorts, is soon to multiply its offerings for Olympic athletes in training. Last week, the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation announced that the U.S. Olympic Committee is approving four new Olympic training designations to its Ketchum-Sun Valley operation, expanding to five the total number of official designations for training sites.

Bodensteiner said Sun Valley’s storied history as the first destination ski resort in America plays into the decision to utilize its mountains as the training grounds for the best athletes in the country. Bringing that tradition full circle with Olympic-caliber athletes on local slopes, he said, “could ignite something.”

President Obama Signs Landmark Boulder-White Clouds Bill Into Law

By Jessica Murri

Quote:
Obama signed H.R. 1138—the "Sawtooth National Recreation Area and Jerry Peak Wilderness Additions Act" into law. That makes 275,665 acres of the Boulder-White Cloud mountains in Central Idaho designated Wilderness.

Quote:
"One of the things we've also been trying to focus on is leaving a legacy for the next generation in preserving this incredible beauty, the God-given blessings that we've received—those of us who live here in the United Sates of America," Obama said. "I think everybody here knows that one of the prettiest states that we have with some of the greatest national treasures is the great state of Idaho. I am very proud to be able to sign this piece of legislation."

Thanks for sharing, nice design that seems to fit the area. I wish we could get more buildings with this look developed in Boise, I would also like to see more of a rustic mountain looking design in the capital city to better represent the states best natural resource and promote the city as the gateway to the mountains.
