Very cool. Thx

Surrey has such a long road ahead to create a downtown. Other than what they have done around city hall there isn't much. These massive large scale developments aren't great.

Georgetown is about to start it's redevelopment and Central 2 will start filling things in.

It`s a bit off-topic, but it's kinda awe-inspiring in that NONE of the towers in this shot were there when I moved to this area.... ugh, almost 20 years ago (Geez, when it get to be so long ago??? )

Central City tower had just finished and the Mayflower Co-op was the tallest residential building around.

Takes a lot more than "filling things in" . Developments like Georgetown aren't doing anything to create an interesting downtown area. It's bland and monotonous. Not to mention all the park buildings and the hub are pretty inward facing

I think there has to be a certain amount of buildings plus other elements before we will start to get some more builders and projects that are more engaging. I agree that these big mass development projects are not great but they do start to help to change the area overall. A stadium, Art Gallery, Performance arts Centre, plus other activities would help to make the area more than just what it is now. A person can hope that future developments push us towards our desired result.

Georgetown is just one phase of a master planned community in downtown Surrey. What is Georgetown phase 1 supposed to satisfy in order to make it interesting for you? Have a Starbucks? It's a residential tower sitting on top of mixed retail/townhouse like any other point condo tower in downtown Vancouver. You're just being pessimistic for the sake of conversation.

It's all bland and monotonous. Sticking a bunch of point towers in an area doesn't make it a downtown for me. Be it here or Vancouver. You can call me whatever you want, when I am in the area it doesn't feel like it's a downtown to me, no matter how many point towers Georgetown is adding

From what I've heard, we've missed out on a couple of stadium opportunities. Most recently the Canadian Premier League (soccer) started up and Surrey was in talks and they opted for Victoria and the next expansion is looking like Langley at this point.

They should build a Stadium and have a CPL team and the Lions share it

They need to focus on connecting the whole KGB Hub area with Surrey Central/SFU area in a way in which the area is more walk able. The Surrey Central tower 2 should help.

Holland pointe would help too...if that project ever gets off the ground.

Where would this potential stadium be located though? Ideally within downtown surrey obviously, however I recall there being some noise a few months back about building one in bear creek park way to the south.

I'm fairly certain that plot of land isn't big enough to accommodate a stadium. You'd probably have to include the area surrounding the field as well.

Looks like they've started putting on the railings now on the first building.
