Yes, but they did admit that a new procurement is being used and given all of the other variables right now, it might be 2025.

Personally, I would much rather they take a reasonable amount of time to get this done right instead of a rushed botch job.

He would... because taxes didn't pay for it! I am glad Edmonton went with their scaled-down version.

DECL received an update on the park from the new project manager.

- Jasper House site has been confirmed that it's been aquired.
- Total park is now 4.27ac (including 107 Street), 3.29 acres/1.33ha (not including 107 st)
- International design competition scrapped due to COVID, going local procurement process similar to other CoE projects. Selection process should be completed by the end of the year.
- Looking at a fall 2024/spring 2025 open date.
- 106 Street streetscaping may be coordinated with this effort, depending on funds and development in the area.

I don't get the shape of this thing. Why dont they just take out the entire 106st/jasper avenue block, including the lots fronting jasper ave that has the BP. Make the whole block a park, and have it visible, fronting jasper avenue. Ditto for the north edge of the park, take out those few buildings and have the park front 102 avenue as well.

And have zero park on the other side of 107 street. I dont understand this disjointed bizarre shape. Why would you place a park along the rear edge of existing buildings that have their loading/alley/garbage areas forming the park perimeter.

I just wanted to see what was out there, there is some very very creative teams out in this wide world.

^The City says there's potential for more opportunities for feedback this way, whereas int'l competition might have had less changes. We'll see.

Never liked the 'international' approach...

More feedback isn't always a good thing...

^Woot!

A pop-up park called Root 107 is coming for this weekend starting April 28. Will include temp installations, seating, food trucks etc. More on social media soon. Part of Downtown Spark activations.
