many people criticise the lower rise element of St.george Wharf - but I don't mind it - when you wander round its very high quality - there is a high class 'sheen' to the whole development - I have to admit there is a South East Asia feel to it which i like as I love Bangkok / Singapore etc but many Euro / US forumers etc are not so keen - but you have to take in to account that many developments in London are aimed at an international market as London is seen as a stable safe haven for international investment.

Pilot was killed, one person on the ground also. Three cars set on fire, 13 injured.

It's a wonder not more people died as it hit one of the central arteries of South London during rush hour and narrowly missed a set of commuter rail lines.

Read about it in Swedish newspaper. A really odd accident. They didn't mention it was the crane belonging to this skyscraper that got hit by the helicopter!

Are there paramedic motorbikes in the first photo by chest? They are quite pointless if they are.

Very tragic!
I have a feeling this project is going to look a lot like one57 in NYC. Crane strapped to building.

Not at all pointless. The motorbikes can get through London's traffic congestion much quicker and easier than an ambulance. They contain life-saving equipment that can keep a person alive until an ambulance can get there to transport the patient to a hospital. Having had one of them respond to my daughter in an emergency I can categorically state that they are valuable and you could not be more wrong to claim anything but.

Yes she was, fortunately.

Back to the topic of the crane, any word yet on when the crane will be replaced?

Actually I read that there were two operators, both were late that morning. Neither one hadn't been late for ages, that really is some luck.

This is British efficiency! I know that a mobile crane cannot reach the crane on one57 in New York city, but this is only two weeks later and the crane is already coming down. In New York the law suits are flying and the crane is still up there since October 29.

So...if this mobile crane can scale the building, then why not use this, instead...?
