Yeah, the architect himself did apparently.

Yet he designed it like that anyway. What an asshole.

I was in London last week for work, and sadly never made it into the City to see this and Leadenhall in person. But your photos more than make up for it.

Imagine how cool this cluster will look in two or three years, several more towers will be built like
Bishopsgate tower 288m
Lime street tower 192m
100 bishopsgate tower 172m
Principal place tower 163m
40 leadenhall tower 154m
Heron plaza 135m
Shoreditch tower 130m
And the goodsyard towers 200m+, it's going to be awesome, and with all the other towers going up in nearby clusters, a panorama shot will look amazing

the crown / roof has added height and the building now looks better proportioned and works at the base as it nears completion

Early Feb 2014 shots

Hello Folks, Here are some early Feb 2014 shots of Fenchurch. Notice the dark mesh square toward the top of the first photo. This is to prevent the building's glass from heating/melting the things below. Cheers!

The developers of this tower have come up with their solution to the "death ray" problem. Because of the concave shape of the towers glass wall sunlight has been reflecting off it and melting cars and store fronts, people got sunburnt and you could fry eggs underneath it. To stop law suits against them they covered up the part of the cladding that was causing the problem, but it was a shame as the cladding is great quality and one of the best features of the tower. Now they have come up with a better and permanent solution, the cladding will be infused with aluminium fins across the southern side of the building. The brise soleil is designed to diffuse sunlight and stop it reflecting from the building. The current temporary cover on the glass wall will now be removed so the great cladding will be on display again.

getting closer to completion
the crown is incredibly complicated and will take time - but the foyer, canopy and ground level area are close to completion
