Also, here are some pictures that I took on Sunday, 6/19. I would have taken more, but service on the Media/Elwyn Line is different due to the replacement of the Crum Creek Viaduct near Swarthmore.

The new Mormon Temple looks AMAZING at night!:

The development at Broad and Callowhill adds so much density to that stretch of North Broad! The southeast corner is coming along faster than the southwest corner:

SE corner:

SW corner:

Southport/Navy Yard expansion

Quote:
Proposed uses for Southport include a traditional marine terminal with ship berths to handle container and other cargoes, an energy port, warehouses, and automobile-processing and storage. Thousands of Hyundai and Kia vehicles arrive here annually on ships from South Korea, headed to dealer showrooms.

Gov. Wolf has said the number of potential jobs created from Southport will depend on the type of development.

If Southport is developed entirely as an energy terminal, he said, up to 590 jobs could be created. If the site is developed completely for a "non-energy use," Wolf said, up to 3,720 jobs could be created.

Yep. Especially with the three classically inspired structures in the middle of it all, and William Penn rising above it in the upper left. Really the quintessence of what's great about Philly.

Do you really believe any of these numbers? Or that they're not outcome-oriented? Come on man.

7-story Senior housing proposed for new St. Rita's center on South Broad

Quote:
At the Tuesday night meeting of South Broad Street Neighborhood Association’s zoning committee, architect Cecil Baker reprised his role as architect-to-the-rescue, presenting a preliminary review of new conceptual renderings for the site--a 62-unit senior housing facility with a ground-floor conference space for the new Cascia Center.

There are no parking spaces required in the RSA-5 zone, but plans include 8 parking spaces behind the building for the 10,000 square foot conference space.

The new building would almost match the height of St. Rita’s, but Baker said he designed it specifically to complement the iconic landmark.

Yeah. I mean, it's just ridiculously absurd how this assertion could be made. Really a shame.

Considering the original plans called for a one story piece of crap on broad...we lucked out.

But if you look at all the renderings, the "courtyard" image looks like the new building actually complements it. The front just isn't great.

Better than the building collapse mausoleum, but not by much. Terrible, inaccessible spot.

I'm not really sure what you meant there.

My point was that if it is possible to get many more jobs with a non-energy proposal, I'm all for it. Unless the jobs aren't decent jobs.

The city of brotherly love can't do better than this?

The approved proposal is somewhere between disappointing and embarrassing.

EP Henry should be ashamed of themselves standing behind it. Someone needs to get a real artist involved. I'm sure a gofundme page can come up with a lot more money than what this proposal cost.
