Don't worry. He calls roast beef gothic.

Daravara for lunch, delicious.

I had the cheeseburger with bacon and fries. Burger on par with the tastiest I have had in Edmonton. Fries good, although should have opted for the soup that looked amazing.

Buddy had the special, home brine corned beef sandwich, thoroughly enjoyed.

Haven't eaten or drank enough there. I should. It is two blocks from the house.

Picky picky on the latin thing. Owners are Chilean and Portuguese and menu is kind of all over the place... Therefore "latin" seems like decent compromise...

What space is this though? I know there is a space at basement level between the Creperie and the nightclub, but it's pretty big... 20 seats seems small unless they divided it up? Or there is another space I can't remember? Assuming subway, new asian, and the nightclub are all staying put?

CBC review of It' Dog
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmont...929428?cmp=rss

Quote:
Gourmet hot dogs are the latest food trend to hit Edmonton.

The dolled up dogs are hot in cities like New York, Los Angeles and Vancouver, where Japadog started in 2005.

Edmonton A.M.’s restaurant reviewer Twyla Campbell looks at “It’ Dog” which just opened in the old Bad Ass Jack’s location on 109th Street.

(NOTE: It' Dog is not a typo. It is the correct name of the business)

^ Picked up a spicy chicken dog from there last weekend. It was quite good (but could have been spicier IMHO).

She gave it a pretty scathing review.

Last night hit a few places:

Rostizado - amazing appys and cocktails, best service by Nick as always.

Hotel Mac - tried out their signature winter drink, similar to a Negroni, delicious... and people were dining on the patio.

Cask - Goose Island was there doing tasting for their 3 brews. Cask is going to likely put Honkers on tap. I hope they also do seasonal for Sophie and more importantly Matilda... amazing Saison.

Mercer - Great poutine, lamb burger seemed well received.

Found Solstice missing something as well when I was there last weekend. Food is good but not outstanding. The cocktails were however very good. In Vancouver all weekend and sitting at YVR. blue Water cafe outstanding. Cotto Enoteca Pizzeria on Burnaby mountain was very good traditional wood fire pizza. And amazingly at a banquet Saturday night at the Delta Burnaby had Tenderloin that had to have been the best I have had. And this was at an event with about 300 people.

Picked up a delicious sub sammich from V Sandwiches on Whyte. The girl at the till told me they should be reopening on RWH in a month, and that It's All Greek To Me was moving to Jasper Ave/105 St. I wonder which spaces are left in that vicinity? Shade nightclub? Space next to Ice House? The space next door to Pub 1905?

^^ Super happy to hear V will be returning soon. I saw that their previous space in the RHW parkade is earmarked for a different take-out place and was worried.

Now if only we could get some decent Phở in the core...

The wife and I tried The Melting pot tonight. Tasty but Small portions. Service was good. But price was 130.00 for two with tip and no drinks.

97 Hot Pot was a far better deal. With much more food.
