Tampa / St Pete is a much more urban area metro-wide and the distance is only widening.

I've only passed through and had dinner. This city has such an odd reputation in the rest of Florida. You would think it was Detroit (again unfounded, but in Michigan in the 90s people spoke the same way).

I will say that when I did go through I loved how the skyline and bridges were lit up.

Nice to know there is something outside of downtown worth seeing.

Geographically, culturally, politically, economically JAX shares similarities with Southern US cities more so than it does with Central or South Florida. JAX, in my view, is more connected with the Georgia coastal areas than say, anything south of St Augustine.

If N. Florida were “annexed” into Georgia, Florida would remain and not loose its overall identity and neither would JAX. JAX is truly one of those peculiar places that sits outside the definition of its location.
