Great pics. I like this one:



The first pics I've seen that allows me to comprehend the sea of condo/apt construction and the layout of the area. Nice grid. Vancouver's geography suggests it could experience some serious Manhattanization.

Your probably right. For many years Vancouver had a strict height limit of 450 ft but as the downtown has rapidly densified the city is allowing some new buildings to go up to 650 feet (Shangri-La).There is even rumours of an office building being higher than that. I think the city has finaly realised that downtown land is a rare commodity and none of it should be wasted (ie craptacular short buildings in prominent locations).

I remember walking over that massive construction site along the granville street bridge. It was insane. There was at least ten towers being built at once. I had never seen so many cranes in one place in my life. It's too bad that now that they're built it all looks monochromatic. I mean the building designs themselves are very nice and unique but the combination of super clear glass and dull colours exude a sort of dull greyness, except when the sun directly shines on them.
