I think they placed it to its final position:

I think the new camera is cool, the downside is that the resolution is not good. It would have been good if they keep the 57th camera raising it to the top of the building across the street, for a closer look of the construction and add this one to see it in the context of the skyline (so we would have 4 cameras)
One good thing about this camera, is that makes possible to do a pretty cool time-lapse.

The angle should be tilted upwards as the building raises, now it is tilted downwards, in a few months it will be not tilted, and then it should be tilted upwards.

It wouldn't be bad if once in a while, like two or three days in a month, they zoomed out the camera, similar as the first picture, to see the building against the whole skyline.

That's actually a better view. Just look at that.

I just happened to be checking the new 59th street webcam as they were adjusting it, so I got a bunch of screen grabs as they were panning around the skyline. I'll post them later when I have time.

Psyched to see this going up--this design is excellent. The joints around the window apertures look great.

My Gosh. The new position of this camera is perfect. Now it has become much more interesting to watch this building grow.

Here's the current view. I liked it panned out a bit more, but still great...

Maybe they should adjust this cam on the hour, give us the different views...

Are they going to move the Park Avenue camera as well?

I think it is ok as it is now, but yes, it would be cool if at certain hours they zoom it in to took a closer look of the works and in others they zoom it out to see it more with skyline.

From SSC, a GIf made with the images while they were positioning the camera, including the technician himself.

Ha! We got the exact same screen grabs, including the fine gentleman setting up the camera. Thanks for posting them, Funkyskunk2. Now I don't have to.

I agree. I'm very happy it's there and it will be a great vantage point for the rest of construction, but I wish two things: that the resolution were a bit higher and that they'd show the base of the building (the camera is now angled higher than shown here). I'm not complaining, just expressing what would make it perfect.

Think bldg in HK is called either Central Plaza or Tower?

It's called Park Avenue Tower. One of the fanciest restaurants in NYC is at the base.

On the 59th Street cam you can see that they have jumped the outer forms today and started a new floor on the 56th Street side. This floor going in represents the 25th window level.

I was on the Great Lawn in Central Park earlier today, and I saw the cranes from there! I wish I could have gotten a picture but my phone was too poor of quality. But it was really exciting to see it!
