Ok, so what are you saying? You don't think that in 70+ years at the exponential growth rate of technological advances that safety hasn't improved, and that we haven't learned from the mistakes of our past? Yeah, there were more deaths from traffic accidents too before seatbelts were enacted and computer simulations could improve collision absorption.

Pic of the Transbay Trainbox from the HSR Facebook page, which should be open and running by the time Obama's kids retire. Probably gonna need to renovate it by that time, too:

Bring the hyperloop to California and end this debacle!

Fair enough

I know you're skeptical, but I remain optimistic that trains will reach the transbay terminal before I start yelling at the damn kids on my lawn and having power scooter races at the old folks home.

I took this photo weeks ago and forgot to post. It shows one of the nuts + bolt used to connect the steel frame with the curvy sections.

I'm optimistic enough to know that I will ride it! They probably won't get to the Sacramento spur any too soon though since it's not the adored wonder of the world City that we are.

Sacramento is a small semi- hokey mostly insignificant non desirable unpretentious non destination city. Or, to be less graceful, a hokey small hick town that is HOT AS HELL! And it doesn't try to be anything else. Unlike some places that are lying to themselves..

But, I digress, the train will come to Sacramento and Los Angeles, the two cities in California where business gets done (even if mostly inefficient and inept), before it reaches Disneyland 2.0. I'll bet you two bushels of FarmVille hay on it.

I kid, I kid, I love San Francisco (circa 1995- 2001) I hope it returns to its better days soon. With all this earth shakin' going on, it probably will.

On the east end, you see one of the skylights that reach all the way down to the bottom level:

Looking west along the southern length of it:

They're getting close to the far western end:

They've bridged Fremont (sorry about the poor lighting on these):

It's kind of funny how they've built the far western end and left a gap. There are a couple of cranes in there so I assume they still need access.

Here's the far west end:

Not very interesting, but here's the east end:

^Ha ha, it sure looks that way. Maybe we can coordinate next time. You do some and I'll do some. Or at least spread out the timing a little bit.
