If they can't get to the paved sidewalks at Louise McKinney in a wheelchair and all they get is a view that is a deadend - this is the stupidest plan ever and worthy of some investigating journalism as to the idiocy of the whole idea including funding. I hope the National media pick it up and show just how small minded planners and politicians are in this City.

The one that ends easy of the LL bridge has stairs and what appears to be an elevator the multi-use trail that runs into LMP. Actually, I think both have that.

They should replace the low level bridge and do the funicular at the same time to make it worthwhile. They could even put a restaurant in the middle of the new bridge, like Winnipeg!

The City will have it all managed by its Transportation Department - meaning it will be years late and massively over budget. This while Council shrugs its shoulders and says what ever went wrong we don't know lets have another audit. Time for the City to outsource its "oversight" Project Management completely.

The west alignment you can fairly easily get to the trail thst runs below the low level from there. It's aa bit awkward though.

But yea, that is a high traffic area, not exactly scenic. I like the new stairs and ped bridge but not the right place for the funicular.

East alignment all the way.

West alignment will render any plans for bridge replacement in the toilet. It's drop off is smack dab in the middle of the roadway which may need to be realigned. Why the west alignment is even a consideration is ridiculous. We need a change in political and administrative leadership...in no particular order.

"right to river"? is that the case Cold? Where is the spot that the funicular stops? and the level boardwalk or sidewalk ends?

I don't think they mean the funicular, but the overall connection.

BTW, the staircase beside the funicular lift is there for when the lift is "out of order" which will occur often.

Came across this while looking at the other River Valley Alliance projects.

Boat Docks and Launches

http://www.edmonton.ca/city_governme...and-docks.aspx

Quote:
This initiative will build on the river as a natural connection between municipalities by increasing options for water access, allowing travel along the river and supporting the regional park concept.
Seven docks and three boat launches are being considered in the following locations:
  • Whitemud Park (dock and hand launch)
  • Laurier/Buena Vista Park (dock)
  • William Hawrelak Park (dock)
  • Emily Murphy Park (dock and hand launch)
  • Rossdale (dock)
  • Dawson Park (dock)
  • Capilano Park/50th Street (dock and refurbishment of existing vehicle launch )
There are links to designs for each of the docks.

Quote:
Project Timeline
  • Concept design— spring 2015
  • Preliminary design completion—summer 2015
  • Construction start— anticipated fall 2015
  • Construction completion— 2016

Unfortunate, but expected.

Due to low water levels we can no longer sail the ship. We have cancelled all sailings for the season however the ship is still OPEN Thursday to Sunday from 11am until 9pm as a floating restaurant. We still have the best patio in town, come on down and see it for yourself.
