no i think they are poured altogether as part of the main floor plates. the molds stick out. i'll take a better look or ask next time i am down there.

thats a big part of what will slow down the apparent progress near the top when it jengas up again -- after we get past this rather straightforward main body of the building.

The balconies on the tower portion are being poured after the fact.

The balconies are being poured after the main plates are poured.
Here you can see the building as of march 8th, no balconies protruding from the plates.
On the zoomed picture bellow, you can see rebar sticking out from the side of the first standard plate.

Here is another picture, as of april 9th, one month later.
You can see how they installed formwork for pouring the balconies in the places where the rebar sticked out.
The scaffolding with the red I-beams, is used to support the formwork above it.

It just blows my mind that this balcony construction scheme can work. I keep imagining walking out onto a creaking slab 45 stories up - praying that the thin rebar can support me!

Awesome shot! Really gives a sense of the impact this will have. Not only decent height, but the interesting design is going to make this an instant icon.

This tower could also be seen on the Brooklyn Bridge Camera on Earthcam.com. So far, it is pretty noticeable in the area. Will surely have a dominating presence once its complete.

This building is going to be a great addition to an already iconic skyline. The location is perfect for something like this to stand out. Having fun tracking the progress.
