Wow, this and 432 are really making me question concrete. If that's the finished product think about how rain and wind would effect it over decades of harsh winters and ever increasing storms as climate change gets worse.

ah a good view of a concrete edge. you can sort of see how its concave. you can see this better up close in person of course. anyway, that surprized me when i was last at the site. its interesting. the whole thing is just complicated.

A) Great photosets, you guys!

B) Completion is scheduled for 2016, I believe.

Well I was partly seriously so that is good to know I guess but I was also joking around because it seems like this project is crawling so slow but I can understand because of the complexity.

It is probably my favorite project architecturally speaking and I can not wait to see it finished.

Sorry for the poor photo, didn't have time to go down leonard street to get a clear shot

The tower is starting to peak above the surrounding buildings

Thank you for the pictures, but it hasn't been much progress, since the pictures of tectonic on october first, they barely raised the formwork one floor and began building the 7th floor.

I maintain this is the best high-rise residential design I've seen so far. It's gonna be something to see it going up. I wish I had $50 mi to spend. lol

Stratospheric Views, and Prices

By JULIE CRESWELL
November 3, 2013

Quote:
.....In TriBeCa, where 56 Leonard Street is slowly rising and will eventually ascend 60 stories, only about 10 percent of the 145 apartments that have been sold went to foreign buyers, said one of the building’s developers, Izak Senbahar. “I think that the international people didn’t have the time,” to buy into the building, Mr. Senbahar said, adding that it was 92 percent sold in just seven months. But it was not for lack of trying. “I remember one French person really buying on the phone because he thought it was going to be too late to get the unit he wanted,” Mr. Senbahar said.

Nicknamed the “Jenga building” for its jagged steel-and-glass design that resembles the wooden tower game, 56 Leonard has a penthouse on the 60th floor that went to what has only been described as a “New York-based hedge fund manager” for $47 million, a record price for downtown.

The first 7 floors had a irregular shape but looks like based off the rendering that the next 25 or so floors go just straight up, just the terraces placed differently in each floor. It should rise much faster

Simply amazing building. This is an architectural masterpiece in my opinion. Is it just me or is that crane huge?

It is a bit on the larger side, but it looks really large because it's still close to the ground.

The bottom half looks very good but the upper half looks out of place. The protruding floors is a bit too much.
