So all corners at that intersection will be built up I take it.

I noticed the old Bakehouse location on Manchaca is getting redeveloped.

I know Strange Brew (RIP) was looking to take over this space before they were forced to close their doors. Does anyone have any insight as to what's going on with this property?

This area of town is desperate for anything with character.

I've been wondering myself. I haven't seen any signs or anything, and none of the permits indicate anything specific. There's also that automotive business at Stassney and Manchaca that closed some time ago, and there are some permits for a restaurant there as well. That seems like an odd fit for the building because it's kind of small, parking would be an issue, and there's not much room for outdoor seating. Unless they're thinking of a drive-thru type business. Another retail/food development is there's an old Little Red School House on Emerald Forrest Drive just south of Stassney. It's been closed for a while, and there's a demo permit with plans for new construction. They've already started tearing off some of the wood on the outside.

The BMW dealership is now open. Looks pretty amazing for a dealership.

Site prep looks to be underway at Slaughter & 35 for that HEB project. Bulldozers have cleared most of that lot.

This new five-story boutique hotel and residences will sit in the heart of Austin’s hip South Congress District. The 73,735-square-foot hotel offers 89 keys with a ground floor restaurant, bar, and event space.

The design concept has divided the hotel into five distinct buildings connected by exterior circulation and courtyards. The client has high sustainability goals, including net zero energy and water. The project is currently under construction.

Very cool!

Quite a change from the Austin Motel when we stayed there in 1957. The Terrace Hotel across the street was too pricey for dad.

Details about the HEB at Congress & Slaughter. It's a 139,000 square foot store.

Austin Java is moving from Barton Springs Road to Manchaca Road just north of Stassney. This says it's in the shopping center where Strange Brew used to be. I'm still wondering what's replacing the Bakehouse.

Looks like the food trailer court is being cleared off that was at Bluebonnet and S. Lamar.

Not sure what is going in there, but I'm assuming something largeish given the size of the property.

Also, any ideas what the old gas station that was torn down across the street is going to be? The office building is about done and they just tore it down. Maybe surface parking, but maybe something more fun :p

Glad to see this one finally get started after years of delays. The delays were mostly due to permitting problems I believe.

Will it ever happen though? It would have been nicer to see it being 8-10 stories VS 6.

Hell yeah! Love quacks since 90. Used to be in the Drag, it was the only place in town that even knew what a latte was.

Their bran muffins and cupcakes are the best in town No shit.
