That multiple tower proposal near Parliament and Bloor might help hide St. Jamestown from the vantage point in that first photo.

Is that 64 stores or 64 storeys? If the latter, then I'm excited.

Edit: Never mind. I just perused the "Canada" section.

Well haven't heard anything for half a week regarding this height increase, and the shoring will start in another week or so. So for now, I'll just stick with the 70 floor tower until we hear something from the city or the developer.

Well it's March. This one should be starting anyday now.

When the equipment hits the site, we're having a party!

No building was more anticipated in 2010 than One Bloor, Great Gulf's relaunch of the failed 1 Bloor East project by Bazis. That previous project had its proponents (for its 80-storey height) and its detractors (for its underwhelming architecture), but it was a connection to the failed bank Lehman Brothers that brought that project down in 2009. David Pontarini headed up the redesign for Great Gulf, and an initial rendering in February led to a full rollout in March that dropped the height (initially to 65 storeys) but upped the design. The building still divides critics, but everyone was relieved that a swooping standout promised to replace an empty lot in one of Toronto's more significant locations.

The new design is really spectacular.

Those renderings are at the previous height of 65 floors.

Still though, this is a pretty building, befitting our most important intersection.

er, I mean second most important intersection...?

possibly 3rd most important intersection?

Easement for One Bloor has been requested for next week. So construction will likely start then. Also, the additional floors also seem to be on the go, but not confirmed as of yet. Should get word soon as the new sales office also opens next week to sell those additional floors.

Hey today is March the 9th. This is the application day for construction easements. my bet is that we will see some action at the site shortly. Maybe hoarding, maybe some heavy equipment or materials being dropped off. I do not work downtown, so its hard for me to get information, but this week I am gonna work hard to glean anything I can.

Nah man. Great Gulf said they are not starting construction until May.

So more time to wait, sit and spin.

Backhoe at the site of One Bloor. Possibly the start of construction.
