Let the site scroll through to interior shots on its own. The views in this 500 Walnut shot would be so much more striking if the windows were double the width, i.e. every other pane eliminated. So that's it closer to a square instead of narrower rectangles of windows. And I think such fenestration is definitely possible. It's not outside the realm of being feasible. The ones in 215 Chrystie look to be about double or at least 1.75 the width of these.
Don't be fooled by renderings. This is what the 215 Chrystie Street windows look like as finished from inside:

Yes, they look a lot wider in the actual photos than 500 Walnut...look at the first three pictures:

http://www.yimbynews.com/2016/05/ian...et-bowery.html

And it makes a big difference in the aesthetic to my eyes. Not that I am likely to have the money to purchase a unit in 500 Walnut, and I'm sure residents will really enjoy their tremendous condos. But still seems a missed opportunity to me. But i am a big views guy. I like windows to be as big and paneless as possible. I do like good wall space for art, but if there is an actual window, I like it wider than these.

Beyoncé rumors sparked interest in 500 Walnut. Get a first look at the ultra-luxury condo building

Quote:
More than two dozen calls came to developer Tom Scannapieco’s cellphone — from across the city, the country, even from Zurich.

“Is it true?” the callers asked. “Did Beyoncé and Jay-Z really buy your penthouse?”

It was March 2015, and Scannapieco’s highly anticipated 500 Walnut ultra-luxury condo building — whose topping off was celebrated Thursday — was just breaking ground. Yet interest was already there: Five years earlier, he had broken Philadelphia’s record for the most expensive residential transaction, selling the penthouse of 1706 Rittenhouse for $12.5 million. Already, buyers were covertly clamoring for a piece of his new project. Before holes were even in the ground, there were more than 20 reservations for the 35-unit building.

The rumors about Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s $20 million penthouse purchase propelled 500 Walnut from Philadelphia curiosity to nationwide sensation. Such popular blogs as Barstool Sports and publications as large as the Wall Street Journal chronicled the gossip.

In the end, the rumors proved untrue. Even so, Scannapieco has had success.

The penthouse at 500 Walnut, which sits just across the street from Independence Hall, is under agreement for $17.85 million, breaking the New Hope developer’s own record -- as well as a city record -- for the most expensive Philadelphia sale. And even with the first resident not expected to move in until this summer, 500 Walnut has already sold out two-thirds of the building, totaling $118 million in sales.

At least Penn's newest hospital and Penn Healthcare tower are pretty much given at this point, along with 3665 Market. The CCP project on 15th and Hamilton is also very likely to happen since residential housing is part of its new marketing mix to attract new students. I'm also bullish on View II, 1300 Fairmount, and Blue Horizon Tower considering that the Cecil B. Moore/Templetown submarket doesn't currently have anything like BH. We should also hear about the first Schuylkill Yards towers since there has been interest in the project expressed (according to several tiny snippets in multiple news stories).

If it doesn't happen during this cycle, I'm expecting to see 3400 Market and Riverwalk break ground during the next boom cycle. I'm not sure what to think of 1201 Vine or the proposed towers on top of The Gallery anymore (I REFUSE to call it FOP).

I passed by this weekend as well. This one seems just about done on the exterior. The south side just needs a bit more work.

Sharp building thats sadly kind of hidden and shadowed from the world.

This would have looked great in space, like along the Parkway or Schuylkill .

While glass-clad residential towers generally aren't very exciting, I find this one to be refreshing given its location. It's about time we had a 21st century building in the view of Independence Hall from Market St!

I agree. The contrast of modern glassy against old brick really works. Love it.

That cluster is a cool tour of 90 years of architecture, sort of an intersting symbol behind Independence Hall.
