Thanks. Brings a bit of relief to the glass. The Hudson Yards development is impressive and the green space and public space promise to be, but it's SCREAMING for a limestone tower or something different. I know that Phase II residential towers may bring that, but I'm not sure how close they'll be in proximity to what's currently going up.

15 Hudson Yards represents the creative spirit of modern Manhattan. Soaring 88 stories and over 900 feet high, this elegant building is among the tallest in New York City. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Rockwell Group, the tower’s distinctive silhouette morphs from its rectangular base to form an attenuated quatrefoil, maximizing panoramic views in all directions. With its entrance directly on the Hudson

Yards public square overlooking the majestic new design installation by Heatherwick, the tower occupies a prime position at the center of this exciting emerging neighborhood. 15 Hudson Yards is adjacent to the High Line, New York’s most dynamic city park, offering inspired living in the heart of New York City, and The Shed, New York’s forthcoming center for artistic invention.

Hudson Yards tower sells more than 25% of its units as luxury condo market shows sparks

Quote:
A condo tower rising in what’s billed as Manhattan’s newest neighborhood reported that more than a quarter of its 285 units have sold since marketing began in September, a sign that local buyers are willing to commit to the borough’s far west side.

Signed contracts at 15 Hudson Yards range from about $2 million for a one-bedroom apartment to about $10 million for a three-bedroom unit, said Sherry Tobak, senior vice president of sales at Related Cos., which is developing the $25 billion Hudson Yards commercial and residential project with Oxford Properties Group. One buyer acquired two individual three-bedroom units for a combined $16 million, she said.

“Seventy percent of the buyers are New Yorkers, coming from downtown or the Upper West Side,” Tobak said. “We are definitely getting those primary buyers who are coming here.”

With 75 signed deals, reached between September and Dec. 31, the building recorded the largest number of sales at an under-construction development in 2016, said Ryan Schleis, vice president of research and analytics for Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group, the brokerage working with Related to handle sales at the property. Deals have totaled more than $300 million, Tobak said.

This project isn't downtown and whether or not a condo building in midtown sells units has nothing to do with downtown.

This whole site is madness. Like something out of shutter island.

Overwhelming in its nature.

I didn't expect this tower to be one of my favourites to watch, but that base + Culture Shed action is absolutely fascinating to look at.

Yes, watching these things come from vision to render to reality is amazing. It's playing out right before our eyes.

530 W 30th, directly to Abington's West side, has a facade that's mainly polished granite and sandstone.
Some other towers in the surrounding area are also using brick, or even employing revivalist architecture. Take 509 W 30th Street, for instance.
