Denver: 1660 Lincoln New Facade?!

So yes, I have been out of the loop for some time. Today I took some distant skyline shots, and noticed 1660 Lincoln, "Lincoln Center", appears to be undergoing some sort of facade replacement? Granted, I wasn't downtown and only took distant skyline shots today, and I only noticed this after coming home and processing my photos. Does anyone know what's going on?

Hahaha welcome back Matt. Your legend apparently does not precede you in Salt Lake City.

What reputation? I'm beyond control of that. I'm just looking for an answer to my question, and last time I checked - Denver was in the Mountain West - and this could potentially be a skyline-changing project.

Ha. I'll walk over at lunch and check what's going on. I admit, that's not a building I ever pay any attention to. Truly a filler building.

Forumers are allowed to create new threads. Every thread does not need to be a months-long marathon. This thread will get its answer and then in a few days it will sink to the bottom of the menu. That's fine.

Forumers are not, however, permitted to needless sow discontent and start flame wars by calling folks names and hijacking threads with city vs city complaining. I've deleted the posts in this thread to that effect, and will delete any new ones that pop up. Anyone who's unhappy with that is welcome to PM me and we can talk about it.

Crap decision. Recall Cirrus. Install Seventwenty as mod. My platform: Required flame wars.

When Seattle-based Unico Properties LLC purchased the 31-story office tower at 1660 Lincoln St. for $38 million in 2013, the consensus was that the 1972-era building sat on a great downtown location — but needed a lot of work.

“When it was built, it was state of the art,” said Adam Knoff, Unico’s Boulder-based senior sustainability manager overseeing Colorado, Utah and

Knoff’s team works on retrofitting Unico’s buildings, including the installation of solar-power panels, and also works with other building owners who want their properties to be more sustainable.

For instance, the surface of the 283,544-square-foot building (which is home to the Denver Business Journal) is pebble-studded concrete, considered at the time to be a good insulating material for buildings. But the builders didn’t put any insulation behind the outside walls, Knoff said.

So when Unico took over, the company embarked on an 18-month retrofit of the building.
No pretty renderings, but a high level overview from the DBJ of what's going on there.

My next act as mod will be to confine bunt to the Colorado Springs thread.

Yes indeed, it's a paint job. Only on the alley side for now. Looks like maybe a darker primer, with concrete colored paint over top? You take a gravel colored concrete building, and paint it to be a concrete colored concrete building. God bless Denver and our architectural mediocrity. Photos:

Do you know how boring that would be? Wishing bunt gone is like wishing Donald Trump out of the Republican primary. You all think you want him gone, but then what? He could be replaced by Eeyore. Or you could all just fall asleep. The forum is like a high school football game. Sooner or later you come to find that the game itself is pretty slow, and while the cheerleaders are nice to look at at first, you quickly realize they're pretty shallow and get awfully dull and tiresome.

Personally, I would never want you to leave. But I am an unjust god who delights in your annoyance. I'd also accept bribes.

I would have left the dark primer on, or just go full-out black. Short of a complete facade replacement, the best thing 1660 Lincoln can do is *NOT* draw attention to itself. Literally, lipstick on a pig.
