Goji's Frozen Yogurt is now open at Trinity/Mountain. It looks like a really nice location!

The T&T reports that the Magnetic Hill Zoo is very close to achieving their $1.4M fundraising goal for a new Asian/big cats habitat with a $100k donation from Royale Tissues (an Irving company based in Dieppe).

This is one of the most major projects in the zoo's history, and will require the dismantling of 13 exhibits and the construction of 7 new display areas featuring Amur tigers, Amur leopards, red pandas, white handed gibbons and Reeve's muntjacs (amongst others).

The zoo has retained a "world renown zoo architect" for the project, so it should be quite nice!

I have always been impressed at how the Magnetic Hill Zoo continues to improve. There isn't a year that goes by that there isn't some little (or major) enhancement going on.......

I was in the zoo not long ago and the area where the Bald Eagle and a few other animals, including the Alpacas and Llama's was all torn up and all the cages were removed, they may already be starting.

I noticed this morning that the small car dealership next to the Shell on Mapleton has been vacated. The land just to the left now has a sign up for what appears to be another strip mall.

At least it'll likely look a whole lot better than what's there now.

For sure. There is nothing there now. Just an empty, ugly lot.

It appears as if Mai Asian Restaurant will be occupying two adjacent units in Plaza 1909 (just like Big League Burgers and Wings will). If so, this means that Plaza 1909 will soon have 80% occupancy.

Yawn!

Hopefully this will be the last one we see for a while. Isn't the vacancy rate on the rise in Moncton?

I agree, but the enthusiasm by developers to build nondescript 3-4 storey wood frame suburban apartment buildings in greater Moncton seems to know no bounds....

As I posted on the Dieppe thread, there is a proposal over there for a development including three 32 unit buildings near Chartersville/Amirault.

What this city needs is fewer of these smaller suburban apartment buildings and more of the larger substantive brick and steel apartment/condo buildings in the downtown core. Given the (current) relative weakness of the downtown economy, it will be some time before we see this happening (55 Queen Street aside).....

They are beginning work on the widening of Berry Mills Road (inbound) between Horsman and Edinburgh. It is my understanding that there will be a dedicated right turning lane from Berry Mills onto Edinburgh, and that this will be a gently curving lane (with an island for the traffic lights). This should greatly ease access for 18 wheelers into the MID industrial park and hopefully will reduce the beating that the pavement takes at this intersection every spring.....

It will be a new building for Parts for Trucks.
We now know the name for the second business under construction on Horsman Rd in the MID West Industrial Park. It will be a wholesale/retail outlet for Atlantic Air Cooled Engines.

Site plan for the proposed Diamond Estates Subdivision to be located south of Twin Oaks Drive, between Evergreen Drive and Blackstone Drive.

Nice to see that area continuing to fill in! It would have been nice to have had another entrance to Ryan Road from the new subdivision but there's not much you can do about it.

I just discovered that you can take Segway tours of the Magnetic Hill Zoo.

What a great idea!! The zoo is popular anyway, but the thought of being able to test out a Segway during your visit might boost numbers even more. Sounds like a win-win situation to me!
