Best Places to Eat Out in Your City/Town/State/Country

What are the most delicious foods/dishes to order where you live, best restaurants, etc.? Your favorite meal is (the meal you would miss most if you moved)? Favorite national/regional food?

The thing I miss most when NOT in San Francisco is good sourdough bread from one of the top artisanal bakers like Tartine or Josey Baker's or, in a pinch, Acme.

I can and sometimes do make a meal of it along with a top quality olive oil. I used to wonder about how bread got called "the staff of life" and how in historical times people lived on just bread, but if you've tried a Tartine loaf you can imagine that.

I understand some of the "starter" yeast has been around since the gold rush. Each starter culture is different, lending a different flavor to the bread made.

San Francisco sourdough is total crack. We even brought some back with us and sold it out of that back of my car.

Fanny Bay Oyster Bar in Yaletown has excellent in Vancouver. They own shellfish farms in BC and WA, so the product is extremely fresh and traceable. Great crab. Great oysters. Great uni. Less upscale white tablecloth vibes, though. More of a casual bar (but not cheap!).

They even have a tiny live seafood shop within the restaurant.
