I'm really glad all the couples swimming in the pool have color-coordinated swimwear. I worry about that in renderings.

Yes, I agree, however, nimby's are afoot and 4 stories is quote on quote "setting a bad precedent" and 3 stories is perfectly fine so Oklahoma City doesn't turn into New York City.

They are bitching about a few parking spaces that are short so hopefully a variance will be granted and this will proceed. I am against required parking anywhere within I-44/235/40 loop anyways.

What's astounding to me is that the neighborhood directly south and most impacted by this development, Classen Ten-Penn, is still really rough. I think they would welcome new investment on the east side of the neighborhood, as it only raises their home values. Although, I understand gentrification of the area will most likely end up with a lot of the lower income folks being forced out of the neighborhood.

The parking issue is really silly. When Midtown grows and fills in north towards Plaza and Western, and as Classen becomes more pedestrian oriented as a result, these parking requirements will loosen up. But hey, someone has to be initial pioneers.

This will be our first mixed use urban housing built along Classen, with the far larger 21C apartments being next on two separate lots near Main and Sheridan. Along with recently completed projects like Catholic Charities and Sunshine Cleaners Brewery, Classen Boulevard has some good urban framework laid for the future.

Yeah, I really don't understand it either. If this ends up not happening because of this I will be really disappointed but I have hopes this will go through.

Times Square OKC a Transformative Project for Oklahoma City
Quote:
Soon to swallow up the last parcel of vacant land available in the downtown core, the proposed Times Square OKC mixed-use development will be a transformative project for Oklahoma City, part of the ongoing downtown revitalization efforts that have been more than 20 years in the making. Set to become the latest residential structure to be built in the core since 1967, Times Square OKC will fill a gap in the urban fabric of the city, bringing the first influx of high-density living to be built in the area in half a century.

Construction set to start next week on $70 million West Village in Oklahoma City

Quote:
By Steve Lackmeyer
Dec. 13. 2016

Construction is set to start next week on West Village, a $70 million mix of housing, retail and office space that will surround the 21c Museum Hotel along Film Row.

The development, which includes The Jones Assembly restaurant and music venue set to open next month, is being led by the Hall family at the 100-year-old Ford Model T assembly plant at 900 W Main. Patriarch Fred Jones started his automotive career at age 24 when the plant opened and eventually bought it from Ford Motor Co. in 1967.

Fred Jones Manufacturing moved out of the plant in 2013 and the building reopened earlier this year as the home of the 134-room 21c Museum Hotel and ADG, an architectural, engineering and planning firm. Fred Hall, CEO of Hall Capital and grandson of Fred Jones, said Tuesday he expects the development will spark even more growth on the west side of downtown.

New Fairfield Inn Hotel proposed. It's only 5 stories and has surface parking. I don't like either one of those aspects and it would be nice to OKC finally getting some nice skyscrapers other than Devon.
