Simons is an excellent addition to Halifax retail. I’m hoping UNIQLO isn’t too far behind.

Nice addition, but I can't help but wish it was somewhere downtown.

Yup. I hear you on this and had the same in mind. However, from a future business perspective, I wonder if the growth planned for the west and north areas of the peninsula might prove HSC to be the (far) better choice of location. I'm also thinking that eventually the best Halifax skyline shots might be captured from Bedford Basin rather than downtown Dartmouth. Perhaps this last comment belongs in a different thread.

Looks like Simon's strategized the Halifax location well. They made it smaller, less that 1/2 the size of our large two-level store here in Vancouver and didn't put in the Edito departments for men or women which carry the high-end designer labels. So a very safe entry to a market the size of Halifax. Hopefully they can expand if it's a hit which I'm sure it will be.

Not necessarley. There is a large Winners store currenty being built at Scotia Square.
