Sorry, but this is only a proposal, a possible idea therefore a simple vision of the architect and nothing more. It is not a real project. CB5 voted for a simple concept and not a proposal for a real project.

No, actually it’s just a vision. The community board is comprised of just what it is supposed to represent - the public. It has no bearing on any proposal. As I mentioned, this isn’t proposed by any developer or goverment agency. It’s an idea by an architect who happens to be a member of the community. That’s what the board is there for, to discuss ideas and provide opinions on active proposals. This is nothing more than an alternative vision for the Empire Station complex. And no, Manhattan doesn’t need any more superblocks, especially in Midtown.

Just saying, but I think it may be fair to say that if we didn't want people to mistake this for a real proposal, perhaps giving it it's own official titled thread as if it was a real proposal wasn't the best idea.

It’s separate from the main thread for purposes of discussion. And we do have threads for visions, just in another subforum. But it’s been stated numerous times here, this isn’t an active proposal.

I'm not trying to bust balls, don't get me wrong. But how about a big fat VISION in the title, no?

You seen to assume I created the title. Did any if you even look at the video?

Alright that's fine. Can a mod put VISION in the title so we can put this to bed? For the record, I was aware this was not a solid proposal, but there's an awful lot of others that seem to be genuinely confused considering it's in the Proposals sub-forum.

This thread should be dumped in the Never Built & Visionary subforum: https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/for...hp?forumid=342

Changed the title to reflect "Vision".

Although I'd be inclined to keep it hear in "proposals" just because its garnishing discussion. With G City and Empire Station/general trend towards the neighborhoods.

Would you agree NYGuy? If not, I can move it?

Leave it here. The discussion is relevant regardless of whether this ever comes to fruition. As long as it's clearly labelled a vision concept I see no reason to exile it somewhere with very few eyeballs.

I thought it was fine. It removes this from the Empire Station discussion, and leaves that thread to whatever is going on there.

Also, I'm posting this in the other thread, but it's relevant here as well. This is a response to commentary on the draft scope of work that was issued last year on the Empire Station Complex....

Too similar to...

the Landmark 81 in Ho Chi Minh City

and the China Resources Hubei Old Village Redevelopment in Shenzhen.

^ It was never in danger of getting built, even if this had been a serious proposal. All designs were placeholders.

It'd be a lot nicer than that other thing they're planning to build instead.

i would like something here (and/or in the empire station complex) that pays obvious homage to ESB..

So it ought to have:
-Perfect symmetry
-Lots of setbacks near the base and the top but not the middle
-An architecturally-meaningful spire
-Edit: A façade made out of fucking stone. I dont even mind blue glass that much, but i do if it's gonna be right next to ESB

(i know technically the ESB doesnt have a spire, but from an aesthetic design standpoint it should have had one, which is why the antenna –despite not being part of the original design– is now, i would argue, even more integral to the icon of ESB than its world-reknowned art deco atrium)

What other thing? The MSG block has no approved siteplan.

This plan looks spectacular, though. Build it.

^ Probably talking about the Empire Station site planning, but we don't know what's rising there yet either, other than the programming.
