Austin - taken 12/6.

This chops off some of the UT Campus buildings on the north end of the skyline, but it's one of the best big aerials I've seen of Austin.

Victoria blows me away. It feels 10 times larger an it is.

That’s a great Winnipeg shot too.

Kevin, that is indeed one of the best, in large part because it shows the gorgeous topography of west Austin and beyond. I always take visitors to the Cat Mtn. area of northwest Austin, as well as drives out 2222 and 360. One of the best drives is to the top of Shepherd Mtn next to the Pennybacker bridge. And all this so close to downtown.

That's a great shot of Vancouver. I'd love to see their skyline gain a little height. It already has great density.

^Wow, that's a lot to ask. If you don't count the Harbor Center, in the last 12 years the city has not only broken the 500 foot barrier but also the 600 foot barrier

If you want to see more height then you have to go to Burnaby (the city beside Vancouver) where the tallest buildings in greater Vancouver are being built

Is there a reason why Vancouver has such a short skyline? Flight paths near downtown ala San Diego or something?

Rich homeowners south of the downtown peninsula don't want their views of the mountains north of the downtown peninsula blocked.

Also most major Canadian cities have height limits as well.

Interesting that NIMBYs alone can hold back the height of skyscrapers in Canada's #3 metropolis. Also interesting that the citizenry apparently has no issue with high-rise development, given the ubiquity of Vancouver's glassy apartment/condo towers, but just very tall development. Even San Francisco, the most boutique-y city out there, allows for limited supertall development. Nearly every city has height limits, but I've never seen such a low (600 foot) limit for a major city except when mandated by the FAA or something.

Yup, they're called "view cones" and they limit development and they're one of the craziest things i've ever heard of Those False Creek nimby's must hold some kind of magic power

Vancouver actually has a couple of buildings (The Shangri-La and Trump Tower) that eclipse 600 feet but not by much

Well Montreal, Canada's #2 metropolis, basically has the same height limit as Vancouver ie 200m.

in the early 2000' s and earlier

#2 Montreal
#3 Vancouver
#4 Ottawa
#5 Edmonton

all had height limits

That Philadephia picture is not only the best picture I've seen of the city, it's one of the best pictures of a skyline I've seen period.
