Actually, the current 1 story warehouse buildings along Belmont have already been demolished. The whole parcel is now ready for development. Speaking as someone who lives less than 2 blocks from there, I'm thrilled to see more new condos and townhomes about to be constructed, even if the design is less than ideal. This stretch of Belmont needs work, and this project should greatly help that process!
People are realizing that, even though this area is still a light industrial/warehouse area given the train tracks running through the area, it's still a pretty easy commute into the Loop area, given the frequency and 24 hour service of the Belmont bus and the Blue Line station being a bit more than a mile away at Kimball. The nearby Tony's Fresh Market on Belmont a few blocks west and the Windy City Produce just a block north at Pulaski/Milwaukee helps greatly as well.
