Regarding the width of the freeways. They are your standard 6 and 8 lane urban freeways. They are neither narrow or super wide.
Also, the freeways traveled in these videos are not old. I-696 (the first leg of the first video) was completed in the late 80s and the rest of the video's coverage of I-96 was widened in the early 90s to accommodate for the wreckless sprawling growth from Detroit pushing out toward Lansing. The freeway narrows to 4 lanes after the last of the exurbs about 65 miles from Detroit and about 20 or so miles to Lansing.
The second video is I-75 north of the city. It crosses 8 Mile, passes through downtown and then continues on toward Downriver. Though it's an older freeway, most of it in Detroit is 8 lanes, and the portion in Oakland County is 6. Since Oakland County is the center of Detroit's big business economy, they are always complaining that it needs to be widened and expanded before repairs should be made to older freeways outside of Oakland.
