I don't know whats worse, a single large on in the middle of the road, or those long stretches of millions of tiny ones that make a dirt road look smooth.

^Nothing makes me swear louder than hitting one of those "single large ones" at a high rate of speed.

wow. the summer solstice is of course only 3 months from now. it's definitely spring, now, with the somewhat wild teeter-totters of weather and temps customary here.

The prediction for tomorrow is another 10 to 15 cm of snow here. Hooray!

Winter is almost six months long here. Starts around the first week of November and lasts until mid-April.

With a few days in the 70s a couple weekends ago melted all of our snow but the temps have been chilly to downright cold for the past several days so while a few flowers are coming up, the grass (and everything else) is still dull and brown.

So that's why I've been sneezing lately.

Is there anywhere in this country that doesn't suck this time of year if you have allergies?

The middle of Nevada where nothing grows?

Checking the county estimates for Ohio, Franklin is about two years away from passing Cuyahoga, which has been the top county since the 1900 Census when it passed Hamilton.

Stupid cold. On top of probably allergies is making me congested like a Los Angeles freeway.

I was a bag of allergies as a child......pollen, grass, kittens (not full grown cats, just kittens)....etc......I seem to have outgrown most of them. I'll still occasionally have sneezing fits but my eyes no longer burn like hell and my air passages don't close up like they used to. I seem to have gotten over my allergies to kittens completely.

I went down to Phoenix last month and my allergies were ridiculous (those who've visited know the Sonoran Desert isn't a barren wasteland...I think the blooming cottonwood trees were what did me in).

Meanwhile, I live in the middle of one of the largest swaths of ponderosa pine forests in the world (Flagstaff is insanely green and lush compared to the rest of Arizona), and my allergies are (with the exception of blooming aspen trees, wind and dust) practically nonexistent.

And I left the Midwest partly to escape the molds and pollens that put me in the hospital for horrific asthma attacks every Spring...
