Interesting how they write the site name on the sewer pipes along with the date. I wonder what "tub" is ?

I think TUB is actually TDB which would stand for TD bank. I believe that's whats going up next to Swiss Chalet. I think the 'D' was poorly written

Hi all - found some info on the development behind Dominion on Aberdeen Ave. Confirmed new stores are Bulk Barn, Dollarama, Jones New York, Stokes, Banana Republic Factory Outlet, Ardene and Golf Town. Five more spaced to be leased in this development. Got this info from http://thompsoncentres.com/aberdeen-overview.html

I'm quite happy that we are getting a couple of new stores and not just repeats... I'm sure more are to come with the "feild Power Centre" and the huge one in Glencrest .. we cant have them all be repeats (I'm hoping for an Ikea PLEASE among others)

That will make it Dollarama number 5 for metro

You know, I shop at thrift stores - no issue there - but I still can't bring myself to walk into a Dollarama. The stuff is just so cheap - and I don't mean inexpensive.

It seems like the type of place where the cat food is ground up cat.

Well I was looking at the location finder on dollarama website and in the halifax region theres like 8 ... well I mean how many tim hortons are there??? I really wanna know that numer .. how many in the St. John's Metro Area .. because I have tried to count them all then i realize i missed a whole bunch or i walk into a building and didnt realize there was one there before

I tried looking for it in locator on the Tim Hortons website .. however they do it by leters and the letters run out so when you move down the map to include like CBS it re calulates and looses some of the other locations on the map lmao .. so we know that there are at least 28

Excellent news. I'm glad to hear that golftown is for sure since Golf and Gear is closing. I had a feeling they might have been closing for this reason. I'm also happy there will be an east end bulk barn and we will finally have a Banana Republic!

I would love an IKEA as well but can't see it happening. We just don't have the population base.

We would need another 1.8 million to meet their requirement of 2 million....which I don't see happening anytime soon....or ever.

Actually about 800,000

Ikea has stated before that they're not interested in markets under 1,000,000. Although they made an exception with Winnipeg at only 770,000 metro.

St. John's population base is no where big enough to support an IKEA store. We would need at least 500,000 minimum I would say or probably higher. Too bad IKEA doesn't build smaller stores to suit the geographic markets.

I cannot see why they need such a population base .. I've been in Ikeas in cities in Sweden much smaller than St. John's

Edit: That being said it doesn't mean that they don't have that policy in their International expansion strategy ... unfortunate though ...Ikeas are awesome

these are where their other canadian locations are:
AB, Calgary
AB, Edmonton
BC, Coquitlam
BC, Richmond
ON, Burlington
ON, Etobicoke
ON, North York
ON, Ottawa
ON, Vaughan
QC, Boucherville
QC, Montreal

According to their site
