I believe the Green layout (overall design) has changed more than "slightly" since this was released! However, I will agree with regard to the existing buildings...yes...this is pretty accurate.

About 4 or 5 years ago there was a 30-story glass office tower called "Museum Tower" that was planned for that block. Part of the development included a new home for the museum. It was said to be 420 feet tall.

When Stratus was bidding on the GreenWater redevelopment and showing the renderings of their proposals, they included the Museum Tower in with their plans. These are some of the renderings that were made public back then.

It wasn't my favorite at the time, but jeez that was the best. That giant red tower would've been so original....I get really nostalgic when I look that this proposal...The HEB, architecture, museum tower, etc.

Going by what was reported it definitely looks like the tower will be set back on different levels so that could definitely enhance the height of the tower with smaller floor plates the higher uo it goes. I hope the glass color is something different than what we have been getting. This is still aways out so we could be talking about a 60 Plus floor tower when all is said and done.

Then again we won't know the future mentality of the city council either, I shutter to think what could happen with future proposals.

Yeah I think the Statesman said they're planning on a 2015 Q4 groundbreaking.

I'm gonna make a point to be present at relevant council meetings but I'm hoping we can push through approval before the shift to 10-1.

This project does not need Council approval. The zoning was put in place before the RFP was issued. The entitlements allow unlimited height and almost 4 million square feet. The Master Development Agreement was approved almost 5 years ago.

Thanks for the info on that, and certainly a relief. I'm looking forward to this project, I want that frumpy old ECC building gone
