No, that is not necessarily true. It has more to do with floor plate size. A lot of companies these days looking for new space want to have more people working on the same floor (and minimize the number of floors they must occupy). This tower is slightly over industry average with about 30,000-35,000 SF per floor.
CAVEAT - development cost does increase with height...thus, initially, making rents more expensive on average. However, if a developer can hook a lead tenant(s) early, sometimes those costs can be mitigated by several different means.
Also, let's not overlook the fact that this developer wants to maximize his available square footage...but, is encumbered by the size and shape of the lot. If the lot was bigger, and maybe more square in shape, the design could have been more appealing to the masses. Nonetheless, I think the design of this tower is "fine." A little better than average. At least I like it better than what I have seen from Third+Shoal.
