Spray Paint + Candy Paint = Yet Another Saturday in Oakland... and Alameda?

EDIT: Upon thinking it through more, I realized the thread title should have been "Spray Paint + Candy Paint..." instead of "Graffiti + Candy Paint..." If any Mod feels like making that change, that would be nice

Today's been interesting to say the least. I woke up today thinking I'd do a set on Alameda until I remembered that the Estria Invitational Graffiti Battle was happening today at De Fremery Park in West Oakland (same place as the Black Cowboy Festival). For those of you who haven't heard of it: http://www.estria.org/graffiti-battles/ So after I got over there and stayed for about two hours, I figured that I still had time to the Alameda set so I decided to focus on Park Street. As I was starting to do the neighborhood set though, I discovered that they're doing a classic car show all down the strip. This was beginning to feel like Deja Vu of last weekend in more ways than one lol.

Anyway, here's my pics...

Yes it is... if it wasn't in Alameda I'd have taken advantage of that by now.

I wasn't even aware that there was a skate-park in West Oakland until I went to the festival. You learn something everyday...

Nce pictures. Alameda looks like it has some nice tidy homes. I wasn't really expecting much from it.

Alameda's a very nice town with a lot more going on than most East Bay suburbs (other than Berkeley)... it has two very robust main strips (Park Street & Webster Steet) and some of the nicest waterfront in the Bay Area. A trip to the East Bay would definitely be incomplete without visiting Alameda.

Im totally down with this thread, especially cause in your video there is a remixed version of ATCQ's mind power that sounds pretty good . Your threads continually get better, nice work.

even better.

Alameda is a quaint, older city. It was the initial western terminus of the Transcontinental Railroad in 1869 and was a built-up city by the turn of the century:

It once had a system of streetcars running through it:

...and a lot of the neighborhoods have lovely ornate Victorian homes and other architecture. The city has nice older apartment buildings, too, that give some areas a measure of urbanity and density. This is the only other thread I can find here:

BTW, nice thread Nineties Flava.
