Capital news!

Soon enough, Nun's island is going to be a mini-Vancouver. Complete with its park named "West Vancouver park".

I think it's safe to move this one in the "under construction" subforum.

Request submitted. Which of the towers is currently under construction?

I wonder how Verdun can get away with building all these towers on Nun's island without any NIMBYS getting in the way. I mean NI is largely a suburb, you'd think they go all ape shit and all.

Guess a lot of people who live there don't mind...after all, they could be living in "mainland" Verdun!!!

Why would they ? Nun's Island basically started in the 60's with highrises (some of them build by Mies Van der Rohe!). So it's a natural.

Nun's island does have a certain tradition of Nimbyism as well, no the new school that was supposed to be built for their own childrens in the park, no to a second bridge towards verdun, even if it would aleviate some of their traffic problems, and facilitate emergency vehicules

Great updates. Nun's Island seems like the best of both worlds. Even though it lacks the urban fabric, it is so very close to it.

^Great updates indeed.

I aree with Molsonex about Nun's Island. I explored it for the very first time last summer and I left very conflicted. On one hand teh island contains very urban elements (Towers, corporate headquarters, bike paths) and on the other the layout and zoning is very suburban. The street grid for example seems to be designed to keep visitors dazed and confused, much like TMR.

The cladding on this one is pretty good. I would liked to have seen it somewhere closer to downtown.
