At this rate, this one will be the first of the 3 City towers to top out.

Wow, that was fast. Over 1/3 of the way up.

Chest, those are absolutely stunning skyline shots.

The core continues to sprout up at an alarming rate:

I can't wait for it to start looming over this insane Victorian effort on Eastcheap:

That Victorian building - which has some very clear Gothic elements - is a beautiful building. When 20 Fenchurch is completed, it will vaguely resemble the Hearst Tower from that angle, with 20 Fenchurch appearing to sprout out from that classic facade.

Glad you like it, Colemonkee - that Victorian building is one of my favourites. It was originally a vinegar warehouse.

Apparently, it's on the site of the old Boar's Head Tavern, which Shakespeare used as Falstaff's local - hence the carving of the boar in the middle of the building.

more at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/33-35_E...3-35_Eastcheap

I hope the Fenchurch street tower will breathe some new life into it - Eastcheap is one of the few areas of the city that is still a bit tatty, and the shops at the bottom of this building are often boarded up.

Just spent some time in London and was surprised by all of the growth...I knew about the Shard but this project a few others were surprising.

I must say that I think the renderings of this building look goofy, but I am hopeful that the actual edifice with be arresting.

It's about time London's skyline got moving, glad to see some interesting projects underway.

^The massing looks a bit awkward for sure, but it looks like the facade should be top notch.

It's always fascinated me how so many London buildings (not all) take the core all the way to the top before starting on the steel. I remember watching the Barclays HQ building in Canary Wharf go up (from across the pond, of course), and watching that pencil-thin service core go up. It looked impossibly thin, yet stood for months while the steel caught up.

Can't wait to see the steel on this one.

My first post...

20 Fenchurch Street from across the river. Forgive the poor shot from my phone taken from 3rd floor, Cottons Centre, Tooley Street while waiting for a meeting to start.

Shows the context with other buildings nicely.
