Just as one example, we have reports from 2011 saying our gym is at risk of collapse and that there's mold everywhere. Renovations were due to start last year but never did.

I've done some work in SFU Burnaby on communications/telecom involving BCNET and I noticed a lot of the infrastructure is really old. It looks like the last renovation was done in 2001-02 in that sector. There are some hidden rooms that I've seen in some of the buildings that have been left the same since the 70/80s that are not being used. Literally pictures of employees from that long ago left hanging up on the fridges in the break rooms.

Haha love that one you find old things, takes you back. My wife was at Surrey Memorial last year for surgery and my daughter and I were waiting downstairs in the surgical area waiting room which is part of the original hospital.

There was a waiting table and she was climbing around then opened up the bottom and found a magazine in there. It had the mail delivery address to Surrey Memorial still on it, and was dated 1983. There was a second from 1984.

So basically these two magazines had been sitting in that little table in that spot at Surrey Memorial, and hadn't likely moved, for nearly 33 years. Likely means nothing had been done changed that room for 33 years lol.

I'm sure SFU Burnaby and even UBC have many spots like that.

They are getting ready to work on the sidewalk along University. Sidewalk hoarding has been taken down in front of both SFU and Prime.

It looks like a theatre entrance or a retro department store entrance.

Walked by the building this evening and could see the stairs and lobby through the large plate-glass window at the front. The whole effect is very striking.

I think it looks great. It'll be a memorable building for people visiting the area.

Yeah looks great. I wish they wouldn't plant trees all along the street though. I'd retailer see a clean view of the building. Especially in the downtown area

Laid a new curb for University. It reduces the width of the street and doesn't align with the current intersection at 102 Ave - reflecting the future re-alignment of that intersection.

Extra wide sidewalk. Doesn't look to be enough room for a full 2 lanes now unless they are getting rid of that median.

Looks like the bike lane will just be up on the curb versus painted on the road so the actual space for cars is the same

Measured the lane width on 100 Ave at 2.8 meters. 105 Ave in Hawthorne Park was even more narrow.

I imagine the City of Surrey might be doing more of the same here. Not sure why they are doing this...

New roads in Surrey seems to be constructed to be more narrow for some reason. Take the widening of 100th avenue. They added an extra each direction but each lane is more narrow. The side view mirror is almost touching the other lane's car. Not sure why they are doing this.
