If money was no object, I would have a normal-looking, average-sized house in a place like Santa Monica or by the Presidio/Sea Cliff area in San Francisco. From the street it would fit with the appearance of the rest of the community. Honolulu would also be a cool place, but maybe too isolated?
Then on the inside I would do what the Russian oligarchs in London do: I'd dig out an underground space for a pool, entertaining area, have a below grade parking area, etc. All supported by a reinforced, seismically engineered structure with ventilation and fire suppression systems.
Something else that might be fun: Own a building with a commercial space on the ground floor and host pop-up shops and eateries.
