^It's impossible to predict a season when you're a fan. I know! I've picked them to finish fourth simply because I can't bear to think of them finishing last again.

Baseball in Montreal. Great crowd! Great atmosphere! Awesome!

A fairly predictable start to the season. The optimist would say that they've been fairly competitive against two good teams. The pessimist would point to the first two series of the season as evidence that this club will finish at or near the bottom of the division...again.

I think there will be fewer highs and lows this season than last: they will be agonisingly average finishing with between 80 and 82 wins. 155 more games to go! Enjoy.

I'm still really worried about 2015. If the payroll doesn't increase - and there is no indication it will - the Jays will have to unload or defer a tonne of salary. Again, they've got $96mm committed to only 7 players for next season - $41mm of which will be allocated to Reyes and Buehrle. Any takers?

Buehrle's having one of those seasons. Last year at this time he had an ERA of over 7, if memory serves. This year he's been spotless > 4-0 0.64 ERA. Maybe $20mm per isn't so out-of-whack afterall.

I have been very impressed with Buehrle's performance and the Jays as a whole. The meltdown to lose the third game in Minnesota was disappointing, more so than the previous night's loss where Dickey just didn't have command.

Overall I'm happy with the season so far, looks like it could be a good one for the Jays.

^A few cracks showing in the bullpen > didn't see that coming. Pressure to be perfect every night might be a bit too much for them.

A few questions about EE:

Has he reverted back to his pre-2012 form?
Is he nursing an injury?
Is this just a blip? (ie cold weather?)

He's struck out 19 times in 80 plate appearances, compared to only 62 Ks in 621 PA last year. Something's up.

The starters have now completely cannibalised the relievers. A solid relief corps was just about the only constant the Jays had last year and now they're so tired they can't be counted on to hold a five-run lead.

Yeah. It's still early and it's a concern about how deep into innings McGowan and Hutchinson can go. But I expect them to be doing 7 or more innings regularly come late May. I'm not worried about the bullpen. It's inevitable they're going to have some bad games.

^I'd be stunned if McGowan were still in the rotation in a month. Absolutely stunned. Same goes for Morrow. Eight walks in two innings > that's Little League stuff. Embarrassing.

Interesting dilemma regarding the return if Lind. Francisco has been an excellent replacement and I would want to lose his bat regularly from the line-up. Who goes down to make way? Of is Lind traded for pitching?

^Too many bats > great problem to have. I'm not sure who will go when Lawrie and Janssen come back. They will likely have to designate one of either Rogers or Redmond. With some luck, whomever it is will make it through waivers > unlikely though. The other body to go might be Kratz because they're currently carrying three catchers. A bit of a chess match right now.

Lost to Kansas City 8-6 in the 10th inning. Breaking their 9 game winning streak.

Reyes has been awful playing shortstop. I'd rather him at 2nd and Lawrie at short.

I couldn't watch the full game but I can agree with you on that one.

That comment totally surprises me. I think Reyes has done a great job at shortstop. It's a difficult decision as to Lawrie. Francisco has shown his bat is valuable, and can't be dropped whilst he's hitting as well as he has been. And with Lind and EE both hot too, Francisco won't get a look at 1B or DH.
Maybe Lind will be traded for a decent starting pitcher, Francisco moved to 1B/DH and Lawrie back to 3B.

I like Lawire at 3B. Granted, Reyes made the fatal error that ended the winning streak but he's been fine at SS

He's got very limited range.

Guess Reyes didn't like what you guys were saying about him. Looking better every game, and helping to make this one efficient infield.
