It is not economically advantageous enough to "dumb down" the total development while keeping all of the original statistics (i.e., same number of rooms, same amount of "meeting" space, same amount of amenity SF, etc.). Furthermore, let's remember...this project has a smaller footprint than the Hilton up the street.

IMO...this tower will be built closely to it's original design or not at all. However, on rare occasions, I have been wrong in the past.

Hmm... looks like this took exactly as long as you should have expected from the date they signed a construction firm to the project. Surprising since signing a contract to start planning construction of a sky scraper fails in importance to the placing of pretty signs.

Your seriously still making costic comments about the damn signs? Dude that was months ago, I'm long over the whole sign discussion. This isn't the first time you brought it up too but the last time you did, I ignored your comment. Enough about the signs please.

I bring it up because it was silly and you kept defending it as a reasonable decision. I'll let it go but for the life of me I can't understand why you thought (and think) it was a reasonable conclusion.

Hopefully we won't have to worry about the signs (or their significance) come December 1st!

Yes well moving on, I was looking at said sign just a few min ago and they have Fisher Marantz Stone Inc. For the lighting. Very impressive since they are the ones who did the twin tower lights memorial as well as lighting for several other major landmarks.

Well seeing that they have permits filed and granted. I'll give this another chance.

Considering the history of this project, I would feel much better if a Manchester Rep would publicly state that financing is in place and all systems are go.

That would really send my confidence level sky high if they went public to announce that they have financing lined up. But unfortunately my confidence level is not there yet. But it does give me hope that they are actually going through the process of getting it done, instead of twiddling there thumbs around.

Manchester Financial Group has the Fairmont rendering on the interactive banner on their website (a different one than I've seen before - although I've seen this angle in the 'nighttime' renderings). No data tho. But the fact that it's still there is a good sign, hopefully.

Lol is that what I think it is? Lower left corner just above that generic box building. Are those black specks supposed to be the bats? Lol

Too funny

First of all, if that was really all that our skyline was in the background it would definitely be a shock to the system to see a tower that tall. Lol

Yes, this hotel will have a giant door that opens on one side that reveals the space shuttle. NASA's Vehicle Assembly Building at Cape Canaveral is the tallest building in the US outside an urban area. It also has only one floor even though it's taller than the Frost Bank Tower.

Anyway, that's good news. I'm really disliking the idea of it being shorter and more stout.

The issue date for the permit is 2 Oct 2014...The EXPIRATION date is 25 Oct 2014. Did I read that right? What does the 23 day permit mean?

There's a bunch of trailers on site. I'm not sure what that means but I figured I'd report in
