If you"re into Ska, this will be interesting. If not, move on..

A Planet Smashers show guarantees an SRO wherever they play in Montreal. They are the greatest Canadian ska band- no argument necessary. I caught this show at Club Soda- without paying! (I'm an amazing actor when need be)

Little foggy at first (camera was in pocket while dancing) but check out from 2 min on.. Yes, that's a wheelchair dude crowd surfing! I posted it on youtube and Max.. the wheelchair guy in question said ' Hey, that's me!' and he posted the wheelchair view and yup.. that's the way things roll in Montreal!

Probably Edmonton's most well known techno act, Rob Tryptomene has several releases on the Stay Up Forever Collective working with major British mainstays such as Chris, Aaron and Julian Liberator, Ant and Geezer. If you listen to London acid techno, you will often hear his tracks be played.

Merrill Garbus is an American, from New England somewhere, and who now lives in San Francisco I believe, but she started her music career in Montreal and only left because her work permit status became a problem. I believe this album was mostly written in Montreal.

St. John's cool.

Music is one of the few areas where I am genuinely a homer. In other areas - architecture, natural beauty, etc. I have no problem admitting when we're wrong or when we suck. But musically... we're cool.
