I agree with what you're saying, but I'm not sure you need this architecture to achieve that feeling. I mean, it's not like you're going to see your "house" from the outside that much either way.

I don't think the poster meant the loss of old-world skills and ornamental craftsmanship nearly 80 years ago. I thought the statement was a generalization of the relatively construction industry i.e. the last 25 years or so.

True it only applies to a few apartments. However I think most people wpuld be surprised at how much you actually do see from the many exterior landings and balconies plus the view of those more classical 'robust' bannisters and window framings looking out from inside. The visual ques suggest more than is actually there in the same way that sound effects suggest more to us in a TV show than is on the real set.

Sitting by a fireplace and glancing over at the snow falling onto the bushes on the landing outside - but 70 floors up.

Bronze reliefs? Lions? Faces? A dude with a beard? If we're gonna do this, might as well ornament a bit.

Great shots guys. Is it just me or does anyone else just want this one to just keep going upward? With how slender it is, another 15 floors just seems right to make a true impact

General accepted knowledge in the trade. Anyone in contracting/building material business will tell you there are far fewer skilled craftsman than there used to. For some materials, there are basically none.

I believe those kinds of jobs are significantly fewer than in the past. Millennials typically don't appear to have any interest in it.

The bronze colored window frames are probably one of the least questionable design choices here. Just look at the Empire State Building or 30 Rockefeller.

They look like my friends gutters that were installed 35 years ago and are ready for replacement.

If they were aiming for historic, the color is a little too light and red. Looking at the historic colors on buildings like LondonHouse, 333 N Michigan, Union Station, The National, etc, the prevailing window colors were really dark black-browns, or medium colored gray-browns.

But they don'y really bother me here, as they are better than if they had either been white or black like in the LaGrange towers. You could also look at it that if the color looks a little dated now, it probably won't in about 20 more years when most people have forgotten the color trends of the 80s and 90s.
