I used to like the bookstore on that corner (in the days before Amazon). Hard to believe there's been nothing there since 1991.

It's going to be so huge for that block (and hopefully the 1500 block just before it). Urgent Care just opened across the street, A.C. Moore will open on the corner at Broad, and there are two storefronts that are currently vacant. With the W across the street, I expect they'll get some nice tenants.

^ That area used to be more vibrant (if nothing special). Besides the destruction of the B.Dalton, the very nice Brooks Brothers was driven out by the post-apocalyptic environment following the One Meridian fire. Glad to see the resurrection.

Yes, definitely, I think it will also be a great backdrop for Dilworth Park and when driving up South Broad as well.

This really is the most underrated or least talked about major development in the city.

it appears the retail space that housed a stereo/electronics store adjacent to the old FYE store was being fit out when I walked by yesterday. The metal vandal protection door was partially rolled up and workers were going in and out the front.

It's been like that a lot for the past couple months. But I can't tell what they are actually doing and haven't yet heard what's going in there.

It used to be the Girard Trust Bank, concieved by Furness, afetr the Pantheon in Rome.. The large building next door was the bak office building. All part of the Ritz-Carlton complex.

To clarify TempleGuy's post above, it is all the SAME hotel. The Ritz. The dome houses the hotel's lobby and dining and a bar. The white tower where rooms are is also part of the Ritz hotel.
